Responsibilities
- Manage the preparation and dissemination of semi-monthly payroll, ensuring that all applicable federal, state, and local taxes, legally-mandated deductions, employee benefit contributions, etc. are properly withheld
- Manage the communication of payroll data to employees
- Hire, coach, and develop payroll and travel expense teams; manage their day-to-day performance
- Manage and serve as subject matter expert for all payroll-related systems, including ownership of ADP and international affiliated payroll systems, timekeeping system, and unemployment filings, to include enhancements, changes, and upgrades
- Define system maintenance and enhancement requirements as needed to improve the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the payroll system; build business case and oversee development, testing, and implementation
- Perform payroll systems monitoring and auditing as required
- Accurately prepare and file required reports and/or payments to government agencies, insurance carriers, etc.
- Manage the mapping, automatic feed, and reconciliation of various payroll general ledger accounts such as taxes, child support, levies, garnishments, employee benefits contributions, etc.
- Manage payroll process service provider to ensure all aspects of the service level agreements are met
- Oversee the timely preparation and distribution of W-2 forms
- Research and build business cases for ancillary systems and tools that reduce costs, improve efficiency or security of payroll, travel expense reimbursement, and royalty reporting processes, e.g., employee self-service
- Manage travel expense reporting team to ensure compliance with company policies and timely reimbursement of travel expenses
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of royalty expenses
Requirements
- Bachelor's in business with an accounting emphasis
- Minimum of 10 years of increasingly responsible payroll management experience and a minimum of five years of supervisory experience
- Technical and functional experience with ADP Enterprise
- Thorough knowledge of payroll tax laws and regulatory and financial requirements
- Experience with the management of an outsourced payroll tax service
- Comprehensive understanding of end-to-end payroll processing requirements
- Strong interpersonal skills, with proven ability to lead and supervise a diverse team and foster teamwork
- Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills
- Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills
- Ability to analyze and develop efficient processes and procedures
