Senior Manager, Operational Risk recruitment
Responsibilities
- Ensure operational risk framework and related policy and procedures are embedded in Wealth Management/Insurance (Investment Product) or Corporate Banking business
- Provide control/ process advisory support to Business
- Review risk exposures documentation (e.g. from risk register/ process risk analysis) and ensure Business accepts risks within appropriate risk appetite of the bank
- Support generation of timely, accurate and relevant MIS to facilitate understanding of risk exposures and decision making to mitigate exposures
- Ensure that operational risk is being effectively managed by ensuring business management implements and maintains the operational risk aspects of the Bank’s Risk Management Framework, group operational risk strategy and associated operational risk procedures
- Ensure the business is proactively identifying, registering, measuring, accepting and monitoring risk across the end to end processes
- Ensure the business’ control environment is effective in reducing gross operational risk exposure to acceptable levels of target residual risk commensurate with the risk appetite and in obtaining a favourable audit outcome
- Ensure appropriate consideration is given to operational risk versus return prior to launching new products in country
- Maintain an optimal balance between risk and the cost of control
- Communicate with both external stakeholders to demonstrate compliance with their requirements and with internal stakeholders to highlight critical Operational Risk issues
- Help develop an operational risk culture by ensuring compliance with operational risk governance procedures and policies
Requirements:
- A University Graduate with at least 10 years of working experience in the financial services sector in operational risk management, operational risk control, internal control and/or internal audit
- Candidates with relevant business/function experience, including experience within business/function operations in Wealth Management or Corporate/ Wholesale Banking business is highly preferred
- Operational risk accreditation is a definite plus
- Ability to work in a matrixed organisation, leveraging resources across the organisation to complete deliverables
- Possess the sound judgment and courage necessary to perform a control role and maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to facilitate discussion within and among units to identify/ escalate/ resolve risk exposures
- Ability to facilitate process and risk documentation workshop and identification of risk/ controls/ assessment/ mitigation
- Attention to details on report/ MIS generation to facilitate informed decision making by management
