Senior Manager, Underwriting – Governance & Existing Book recruitment
This team will provide credit oversight to the development of strategy and policy for ROI Mortgage arrears management while supporting development of product and process variations as necessary. The team will provide 2nd line of defence underwriting support for the higher value and challenged (business related) case managed mortgages and exercise oversight for the higher volume decisions.
This additional Governance focused role is required to meet the critical need within the function that has resulted from the following:
Key Responsibilities:
- Senior Mortgage Underwriter decision maker operating a significant Lending Discretion and Authority level.
- Chair of Collections Credit Review Forum.
- Senior Credit member of Appeals Board.
- Lead, develop and recommend credit management and forbearance strategies for ROI Mortgage Book.
- Be accountable for ensuring Challenged and Forbearance Teams within Mortgage Underwriting provide superior quality service and identify appropriate risk management strategies in a timely manner.
- Ensure Retail Credit (Mortgage Underwriting) appropriately discharge it’s duties with regard to Collections Cases Review Forum and Mortgage Appeals Board.
- Manage on-going reviews of Challenged and Forbearance mortgage connections and actively participate in the management of complex connections.
- Implement and monitor appropriate governance framework in the Retail Credit ROI Mortgage Underwriting MARS function.
- Ensure integration of robust credit and risk management standards, processes and procedures, aligned to overall credit policy.
- Implement controls/checks to ensure satisfactory compliance with regulatory and business codes in addition to achieving satisfactory audits.
- Be a strong contributing member of Mortgage Credit and Retail Credit Management team.
- Develop and actively manage external relationships with key stakeholders while demonstrating communications excellence.
Essential Key Requirements
- MCC qualification
Technical Knowledge
- Extensive knowledge in credit underwriting / management across a broad spectrum of loan portfolios demonstrating substantial experience (10–15 years) in large ticket credit / lending.
- Key knowledge of the regulatory and legal environment.
