Serve is American Express? next-generation digital payments platform that helps customers organize their money, send and receive funds, and manage payment requests (www.serve.com, app marketplaces for iPhone, Android Windows Phone). Serve brings multiple payment options to the hands of consumers including P2P, mobile, traditional swipe and online transactions under one single account. It also includes a prepaid, reloadable card that consumers can use to make purchases online and offline wherever American Express is accepted in the U.S. We are looking for a Senior Interaction Designer to help us redefine the future of commerce here at Serve offices in Tribeca. This Senior Interaction Design position requires a deep understanding of user experience design for interactive products of all kinds, sizes, and contexts. In this position, the Senior Interaction Designer will lead product research, strategy, information architecture, and user experience design to create products that bring delight to our customers. The Senior Interaction Designer is able to discover, understand, and communicate the business requirements of our internal teams, the emotional needs of our customers, and the context in which these two come together. This role will: * Design and specify user interfaces and information architecture using participatory and iterative design techniques, including observational studies, customer interviews, usability testing, and other forms of requirements discovery. * Produce user requirements specifications, personas, storyboards, scenarios, flowcharts, wireframes, design prototypes, and design specifications. * Effectively communicate research findings, conceptual ideas, detailed design, and design rationale both verbally and visually. * Manage the design process, drive decisions and track issue. * Participate as a contributor to an interdisciplinary team that includes business team members, product managers, developers. * A strong understanding of software technologies in both web, mobile, and PC platforms is a vital underpinning for this role, experience with payment UI is a plus American Express is an equal opportunity employer. * BFA or BA in related field, Media or Design strongly preferred. * 5+ years of design experience (Significant agency / studio experience preferred) * Evidenced track record in design and shipping products (software, hardware and/or web). * Knowledge of capabilities and limitations of web technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, Flash, and CSS. * A passion for creating products that resonate emotionally with people. * Ability to articulate complex solutions clearly. * Quick-thinking, personable, flexible. * Sense of humor. * Current working knowledge of design applications. * Cross-platform design experience, inclusive of Web Mobile. * Awareness and practical understanding of current technologies, and their application and relevance to digital media and consumer consumption. * Experience working in a start up environment a plus.
