Senior Market Risk and Analysis Manager
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily reporting of market exposure, profit-and-loss, and VAR performed by analysts in London and Singapore, and monitoring limit breaches. The Market Risk Manager will collaborate with operations, trading, accounts and finance to improve systems and processes, controls, and policies. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing staff, monitoring the outlook in the oil market, and new regulations.
Reporting into the Head of Risk the ideal candidates will be:
- Ensure that daily reporting of market exposure, profit-and-loss, and VAR by analysts is timely and accurate.
- Ensure that traders are properly advised on hedges to be executed against changes in exposure, such as pricing of trades, changes in cargo quantities, and expiry of contracts.
- Ensure that daily assessments of forward curves are independent and fair.
- Monitor outstanding market exposure and VAR to ensure limits are being adhered to and to raise issues to senior management where necessary.
- Monitor market exposure and VAR against the outlook in the oil market.
- Collaborate with other departments in setting up systems for new traders and new offices.
- Regularly review current systems, processes, and controls, and collaborate with other departments such as operations, trading, and finance in order to make improvements.
- Monitor developments in regulations and risk control, and help formulate guidelines and polices where needed.
- Present overall trading information to senior management where required.
- Develop and manage staff.
Our client has requested the successful candidate possess the following skills:
- At least 5 years of experience in market risk analysis, preferably in the oil trading market, with some experience in mentoring or managing junior staff.
- Knowledge of VAR, price formulation in the oil market, and hedging strategies is required to develop risk measures, ensure fair mark-to-market, and to manage market exposure.
- Some knowledge or experience with supply and demand drivers in the oil market would be an added advantage.
- Strong communication skills are required to facilitate interaction with senior management, other departments, and to manage and develop staff.
