Department Description:
J.P. Morgan Internal Audit (IA) Department is accountable to the Audit and Examining Committee of the Board of Directors, the Office of the Chairman, senior management and our global and local Regulators. The global IA Department has in excess of 600 auditors, based globally in all regions, including Asia.
The Investment Banking (IB) Audit Team is responsible for assessing the adequacy of the control environments across all of the IB businesses. This is achieved through a program of audit coverage which is performed and managed by a global team of integrated technology and financial business specialists.
Position Description:
Senior Auditor position based in Hong Kong within the Asia Investment Banking Audit Team.
This role will include execution of the program of audit coverage for Asia IB Market Risk and Valuation. You will be responsible for maintaining relationships with and providing control related advice to business stakeholders as well as planning, executing, documenting and drafting audit reports reflecting the result of their work for audits conducted.
As part of the Asia regional IA team this individual will be responsible for risk assessment, control identification, development of audit testing, and completion of audit work. In particular you will be expected to develop a detailed understanding of the firm's IB businesses lines and products within their remit of responsibilities. Specifically, you will be required to demonstrate and maintain a strong understanding of product specific valuation methodology and processes alongside a detailed understanding of key credit market risk exposures, measurement techniques, accounting and financial controls, regulatory and financial market developments in performing their role.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with IB and audit colleagues monitoring regional Market risk, Valuation and finance related metrics with an ability to recognize emerging issues with risk and control implications.
- Partner with regional and global IA team and stakeholders to evaluate, test and report on the adequacy and effectiveness of management controls. This is conducted in accordance with department and professional standards.
- Plan, execute, document and draft audit reports for audits conducted
- Flexible and adaptable to dynamically changing work environments, including travel to other countries as part of regional audit engagements
- Communicate audit results and issues both verbally and in written form
Skills
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or related discipline with 5 years plus of work experience in Market Risk and/or Valuation business functions and preferably with an appropriate level of exposure to audit.
- Must have high proficiency in market risk principles, credit risk and security/ derivative valuation practices
- Solid understanding of internal control concepts with the ability to evaluate and determine the adequacy of controls
- Ability to run multiple audits, manage projects and participate in audit assignments in a team environment
- Enthusiastic, self motivated, effective under pressure and willing to take personal responsibility/ accountability
- Ability to build strong partnerships across the IB and audit teams through a proactive, open and communicative approach through all aspects of planning, execution and reporting.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently in an efficient and effective manner with minimal supervision.
- Ability to travel (up to 20%)
