Senior Marketing & Business Development Manager, Tax
Our Tax Marketing Business Development team is offering a permanent London-based role to fulfil the position of Senior Marketing and Business Development Manager. The role involves providing strategic and tactical marketing and business development advice to a diverse practice and designing and driving the delivery of integrated marketing and BD projects. This is a great opportunity to build experience of managing a team and in working with senior stakeholders. The individual will be involved in a wide range of campaigns and will need to engage senior management and a wide variety of marketing and communications specialists in order to bring them to fruition.
Role
Marketing Business Development leadership
- Contribute to and inform business strategy and investment decisions.
- Support strategic business priorities by creating marketing and BD strategy and plans in given areas of the Tax business in partnership with business leaders.
- Consult with senior decision makers to support the promotion of their area of the business
- Design and oversee the implementation of integrated marketing and business development campaigns. This will involve linking with and co-ordinating a wide range of resources and specialists in order to deliver fully integrated, high quality marketing solutions. Projects may include:
- packaging and launching new services to the market;
- building eminence though issue-based marketing;
- market targeting; and
- driving revenue growth through targeted BD initiatives.
- Oversee and drive the improvement of ongoing marketing and BD responsibilities (e.g. website, Budget campaign, awards and credentials)
- Actively drive and encourage collaborative creative processes needed to support the development of campaign concepts and (internal and external) messaging.
- A focus on sales enablement, from ensuring our people know how to take a marketing campaign to the market, through to establishing rigour and commitment around BD follow-ups post-marketing activity.
- Work with internal communications to ensure all marketing campaigns have a carefully thought out internal engagement strategy.
- Connect with other parts of the business to support Tax's change agenda. This will involve providing specialist marketing and business development input into other key support functions.
Team management
- Manage and develop the Marketing and BD team (2 x managers, 2 x assistant managers) - this involves the setting of objectives and yearly performance appraisal conversations.
- Ensure that the team's energy and effort is directed towards marketing activity that addresses the tax aspects of current commercial themes as opposed to pushing single products or services.
Firmwide marketing
- Some involvement in firmwide marketing initiatives: mentoring, participation in ad hoc workstreams, presentations to new hires etc.
- Engage with others in the wider marketing community (online solutions, PR, Brand etc, as well as marketing colleagues in other service lines and industry groups), in order to deliver fully integrated marketing campaigns that have a particular service line or industry bias, if necessary.
Key stakeholders
The post holder will report directly to the Head of Marketing BD, Tax and will be expected to:
- Work closely with the Tax Growth and Markets Partners in Tax to support the Solutions and Services agenda - this is the creation and promotion of go to market messages for the practice.
- Deal with senior stakeholders including UK Head of Tax including members of the Tax Executive. This can involve acting in an advisory capacity to Partners regarding the achievement of their business priorities, and may require discussion of both marketing and operational solutions.
