Santander Cards is part of the Global Santander Cards division which operates in 11 countries and has a combined portfolio of over 16 million credit cards and 33 million debit cards around the globe. Santander Cards began its UK operations in 2007, and since then the business has experienced very strong growth and in 2011 recruited 550,000 new customers, expanding the number of Santander credit card in issue to 1.5 million.
The company has made a commitment to continue to grow the Cards business and significantly increase market share and profitability during 2012 and 2013. The Products and Marketing function is central to the delivery of this growth through the development and management of market leading products and value propositions. This role will be critical in helping to define the strategy of the card business to deliver the vision of the bank for 2013 and beyond
As Senior Marketing Manager your key accountabilities will include:-
* Pro-actively developing knowledge and understanding for a range of sources. Utilising understanding to enhance Santander's position in the market. Monitoring product performance of a group of products or a major product
* Developing an annual marketing plan for a group of products or a major product
* Developing clear understanding of the proposition to be offered to customers and developing effective campaign plans in conjunction with the Communications team
* Developing campaign propositions to ensure effective marketing of product
* Effectively managing product group/major product, developing and changing products to maximise revenue and profitability. Prepares and gain approval for changes through the development and sign off of Business cases through Product Board
* Effectively project managing campaign implementation. Ensuring adherence to regulatory, risk and compliance requirements.
* Pro-actively managing stakeholders and developing communication plans cross functionally to ensure engagement and commitment to changes
Functional responsibilities of the role:
* Investigation, definition and development of strategic product roadmap in conjunction with Product Development, Product Campaign Management covering
* Product enhancements and strategic recommendations
* Contactless and mobile etc developments
* New media strategy - social media development
* Manage the regulatory compliance road map, defining business, product P/L impacts
* Liaison with market intelligence functions internally and externally to ensure the provision of robust and actionable strategic competitor intelligence and customer insight to inform key business decisions and strategy development
* Lead all marketing research gaining requirements for the wider marketing team, ensuring that the research is focused to deliver the customer view to support the business objectives
* Key relationship owner of the MasterCard and Visa relationship. Support the management of the day to day relationship and coordinate resources and reporting
* Provide key support to the MD of the Cards business in the development/creation of strategy updates for senior management
As Senior Marketing Manager your skills and experience will include:-
* In depth knowledge of the UK Financial Services marketplace, ideally with specific expertise in Cards (customer needs, pricing, product innovation, product management, regulation, TCs, competitor activity, market developments and trends.)
* Strategic thinking demonstrated through experience of developing business and marketing strategies
* Commercial acumen and understanding of Cards PL drivers
* Highly defined communication and influencing skills and experience of working with and influencing key stakeholders
* Skills and knowledge in Product Marketing/development gained through experience in the FS industry
* Experience of Customer research and insight, ideally with expertise in retail and FS cards.
