Responsibilities
- Write and edit content for press releases, articles, brochures, white papers, newsletters, videos, web and social media, ads, and more
- Research, analyze, and prepare data to incorporate into various collateral
- Plan, coordinate, and execute communications projects and campaigns that support Esri marketing, branding, and positioning goals
- Collaborate with marketing content contributors, graphics department, advertising staff, industry managers, events team, and other relevant groups to create and drive consistent messaging across the organization
- Use new media and web tools such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, online video, blogs, and podcasts to develop communities and deliver targeted messaging
- Develop trade media relations; proactively provide story pitches/editorial content for publication and support media requests
- Attend related user group conferences to obtain story content and provide onsite media relations services as well as video or podcast support
Requirements
- Bachelor's or higher in communications, marketing, journalism, or English; master's preferred
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to convey complex and/or technical information in an easy-to-understand, compelling manner
- Five or more years of experience as a professional writer
- Excellent project and time management skills with the ability to multitask and work in a deadline-oriented environment
- Be personally motivated, a creative thinker, and a team player who works well in a cross-functional team environment
- Ability to develop effective relationships with media representatives and successfully pitch story ideas
- Ability to travel approximately 25% of the time
Recommended Qualifications
- Familiarity with or experience in the use of GIS software
- Demonstrated capacity for understanding marketing strategies and objectives
- Experience writing a variety of marketing materials
