Role Opportunity: We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer who is charged-up by leading system-level and sub-system designs through fast-paced product development cycles. A strong mix of technical breadth and vision allow you to work cross-functionally to tie mechanical assemblies, optics, electronics and software and into compelling customer experiences. You are highly motivated and enjoy bringing technical and tactical leadership to cross-disciplinary teams. Your work experience includes a minimum of six years of mechanical product design. This includes designing mechanical parts and assemblies for manufacture. You are knowledgeable of the material properties of various plastic resins and metals. You are a practicing mechanical engineer and are gaining expertise in both tolerance analysis and CAD design. You understand how to bring an idea to design, and a design to production. You have demonstrated the ability to deliver a solution to the customer's need through your design, and have brought other functions and subject matter experts along with you. A track record of innovation and experience in selecting material and components to achieve cost targets is desired. The establishment of specifications and written test plans, including the development of test procedures to verify your designs are integral to the position. An ability to manage complex projects and design rigor against development timeline needs is required, and your excellent communication skills allow you to work seamlessly with teams across various engineering functions and geographies. As such, you are willing to travel internationally at times to support design and manufacturing activities. You must be able to work well with international contract manufacturers. Qualification Summary: B.S. Mechanical engineering, M.S. or PhD in related engineering discipline preferred. Six years of product development experience, with at least five years designing assemblies for electronic devices. In-depth knowledge of mechanical tolerance analysis and Designed Experiment Techniques. Project lead experience including the design of complex assemblies of injection molded parts (using internal or external contract design resources) on at least two electronics products that successfully reached volume production. Expert know-how with a common engineering CAD package (ProE Wildfire a plus). Experience with thermal management and electronics cooling preferred. Experience with mechanisms preferred. Understanding of touch display architecture and experience in mechanical integration of large touch displays into electronics products preferred. Understanding of and experience with PCBA mechanical interface definition and power supplies preferred. Some domestic and international travel required. WWL-JOBS W:PPUE
