The Central Business Office is seeking a Senior Medical Coder. The primary role of this position is to review medical records and ensure appropriate billing in accordance with CMS Correct Coding Initiative (CCI) and Outpatient Coding Edits (OCE), as well as Local/National Coverage Determinations are met; apply the appropriate hospital modifiers (25, 27, 59, etc.); and make claim corrections in accordance with CMS guidelines as it pertains to Medically Unlikely Edits, etc.. Performs review of medical record to include, but not limited to the physician orders, administration records, and progress record to determine the appropriate CPT codes coded and billing compliance. Make appropriate data entry requirements to append appropriate charge codes with hard coded CPT/HCPC codes to reflect services in each associated service department.

The minimum qualifications for this position are as follows:  High School Diploma or equivalent education and three (3) years of medical coding experience in a hospital/medical setting or related experience are required.  Experience in inpatient, outpatient and reimbursement coding is preferred. Graduate of an accredited Medical Coder program and Certification in Medical Coding are required.  Demonstrate knowledge of ICD9 and DRG.  Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications will be considered.
