Our Client is a one of the biggest mine companies in Canada developing the beautiful British Columbia (Center BC) and has the second largest open pit site in Canada.
SENIOR MINE ENGINEER
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Superintendent, Mine Engineering, the Senior Mine Engineer is responsible for mine planning
and for participating in the integration of mine plans into mining operations. The incumbent accomplishes this
by managing the long and short range planners, technicians/surveyors, engineers in training and administrative
support personnel so that they function as a cohesive, coordinated, goal-directed unit.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares long range feasibility studies to maximize exploitation of the ore body
- Coordinates the development of short and long range mine plans
- Coordinates economic studies of mining methods and equipment utilization
- Liaises with mine operations department to integrate mine plans with operations activities
- Regularly analyses engineering sections operating costs and identifies cost reduction opportunities
- Generates monthly, quarterly and annual reports on engineering sections performance and on mine
performance
- Recommends staffing requirements and participates in the hiring process
Qualifications:
- Degree in Mining Engineering with a minimum of 10 years experience open pit mine engineering
- Registered professional engineer
- Strong supervisory and team building skills
- Accomplished written, verbal and group presentation skills
- Strong computer skills with MS Office experience
