We are also listed as one of Britain’s Top Employers (2011). The department .The London tax department currently organises itself into four direct tax groups: one predominantly corporate tax group, two predominantly personal tax groups and a tax advisory group, plus the VAT group.
The position available is within the VAT group, which currently comprises 9 VAT specialists.
They are responsible for providing advice and assistance to clients on a full range of VAT issues, including: reviews and recommendations for saving tax, arrangement of VAT registrations and setting up of accounting procedures, negotiations with Revenue Customs on behalf of clients, and advice on VAT requirements within certain specific business areas such as the land, property and construction industries, the not for profit sector and the travel industry.
The role will focus on two main areas: providing advice to existing clients of the firm (both direct to the client and to other professionals within the firm) and taking some responsibility for the marketing and sale of VAT services to non-clients.
The role will be based in London but it is very likely that work will be required for clients throughout the UK and travel will be required from time to time. With these in mind, the successful candidate will possess the following:
Experience of VAT across sectors and a good understanding of VAT principles
Good client handling skills
Must be personable and able to explain complex issues in a way non-VAT experts will understand - dealing directly with non-VAT partners and other technical staff will be a large part of the role
