Senior Mortgage Underwriter

My client, a leading retail bank, are looking for a Senior Mortgage Underwriter to utilise a lending mandate as defined by Credit Risk to protect the quality of mortgages and to support responsible lending.
The Senior Mortgage Underwriter will review lending decisions made by the underwriters and provide reports relating to individual underwriting quality checking activity and identifying areas for system and policy improvements and changes. Within this role you will be responsible for performance of loans within your mandate of up to £900,000 dependent on experience.
The Senior Underwriter will also be expected to provide coaching, training and support to the underwriting team and feedback to the Mortgage Underwriting Manager. They will also be responsible for reviewing appeals on underwriting decisions and provide a second independent decision and process to resolution in order to build and maintain positive working relationships.
The ideal candidate will have three years experience holding a full discretion mandate at £500,000 or above and have knowledge of complex lending scenarios.
Awareness of the wider mortgage environment and key risks is essential for the role. The ability to use appropriate systems such as Land Registry, MSP, CINS, UFSS and Experian would also be beneficial.
