The Defense and Maritime Solutions Business Unit is seeking a Senior National Security Analyst for the Arlington, VA office. Job Description: The Senior National Security Analyst provides technical and analytical support to a wide range of actions in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics regarding the national strategic deterrent. Nature of work actively engages issues, actions and initiatives concerning, or relating to, the management, research, development, deployment, transportation, safety, security, storage, and training for the stewardship of nuclear weapons and for national response to terrorist use of radiological devices or improvised nuclear devices. Individual supports the development of key DoD nuclear weapons national and executive guidance, organizational initiatives, DoD requirements placed on DOE, and DoD nuclear skills preservation and expertise sustainment actions. Further emphasis may include any of the following: the national nuclear stockpile; nuclear weapons operations; nuclear weapons detection; nuclear forensics; nuclear accident/incident response; national response plan (response to a nuclear detonation); emergency response and consequence management; national-level exercises; nuclear enterprise and infrastructure transformation; nuclear weapons effects; survivability; stockpile sustainment; nuclear weapon program requirements; and policy. Individual may provide support to the Nuclear Weapons Council (NWC) and the NWC Standing and Safety Committee (NWCSSC) and prepare joint NNSA/DOD reports for delivery to the President and/or to the Congress. Individual may also participate in the management, execution or implementation of requirements stemming from National Security Presidential Directive (NSPD) -28 concerning the Nuclear Command and Control System and the Committee of Principals on command and control, safety, security and use control issues and in the management and execution of requirements stemming from NSPD 17/HSPD 4 relating to response to WMD events.. Individual reviews documents, contributes to studies or task forces, prepares papers and staff summaries and briefings, attends/participates in meetings, including a range of activities involving the Interagency. Individual will oversee more junior staff supporting assigned responsibilities. Qualifications : Education: Undergraduate degree is required. Degree in engineering, physics, chemistry, mathematics or related science field is preferred. Masters of Science degree in nuclear engineering or nuclear physics (or related field) is desired. Required Skills: 10 years of related experience. High-level quantitative and qualitative analytic and technical skills, with excellent written and oral communication ability. Knowledge base required in nuclear weapons policy, operations and acquisition, to include command and control, forces, stockpile, operations, accident and incident emergency response, surety and nuclear security issues and activities. Ability to confidently and credibly execute presentations at high levels, to coordinate actions and initiatives across the OSD, the Joint Staff, Services, and other Federal Departments and Agencies, and to produce "executive-style" summaries and/or develop clear "courses of action," with recommendation, for decision and to resolve issues at the Departmental level. Demonstrated experience in the establishment of positive and productive work relationship with clients based on individual level of expertise, quality of work, personality, and ability to deliver the desired product. Expert knowledge of Microsoft suite of Office products required (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Current active Top Secret security clearance required. Must be eligible for a Top Secret clearance with SCI access. Desired Skills: Leadership and management training and experience. Experience at the OSD, JS or Service staff.
