Senior .NET / PB Architect - Experis is seeking a .NET Architect with PowerBuilder experience for a contract-to-hire position in Universal City with a major studio. This is an exciting position with global reach, working with cutting-edge technology.
The Senior .NET Architect will be working on a critical, highly visible project on a large and complex system that was developed using PowerBuilder and Sybase. It is currently under migration to SQL Server 2008 platform. This system has been in production for 10 years, and is the central system that runs a multi-billion dollar business. Our client needs to define the to-be architectural approach for this application, and are looking to move from PowerBuilder to .NET.
You will be joining a team of experienced developers, business analysts and technical project managers. You will be collaborating with this team as the architectural lead.
Are you interested? The ideal Senior .NET Architect will possess the following:
- Architected and built at least one rich-client-based (i.e. client-server) application using Windows Forms or WPF on .NET 3.5 or later which fully utilized the MVVM design pattern and used Prism/Composite Guidance from Microsoft patterns practices
- Architected and built at least one PowerBuilder application that heavily utilized the PowerBuilder Foundation Classes and Data Window.
- Modeled, architected, built, and analyzed and tuned performance of multiple SQL Server database schemas, with a least one having at least 250 tables
- Reverse-engineered and refactored an existing SQL Server production database
- Architected and built a .NET-based system that fully utilized ORM, preferably using Microsoft Entity Framework, and ideally Entity Framework 4.
- Architected and built a .NET-based system that fully utilized LINQ to Entities
- Architected and built a .NET-based system that fully utilized third-party UI controls.
- Defined a strategy and approach for legacy application modernization and executed on it.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or equivalent work experience.
- 7 or more years experience building business applications from concept to execution including designing and developing a .NET application. Expertise with Powerbuilder and.NET architectures.
- Delivered a system to a global user base, which included optimized balance between server-side processing and client-side processing, and also took into account network bandwidth and reliability limitations in order to deliver the best possible user experience
- Global deployment packaging. Experience with automated testing, automated build, and test-driven development tools.
- Solid understanding of the capabilities and limitations of the Powerbuilder platform
- Serialization and caching strategies to optimize performance and maintainability.
- Proven experience and thorough understanding of client server technologies, business concepts, security issues, and networking standards.
- Ability to clearly communicate and present proposed technical solutions to technical and business audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to work with the leadership team to set and execute project direction.
- Strong customer focus, interpersonal, and problem solving skills.
- Proven experience leading and mentoring team members.
- Proven experience identifying and driving issues to resolution.
- Proven experience working with teams to define the best possible solution considering business requirements, current corporate standards, industry best practices, and technical limitations.
- Demonstrated ability to work in dynamic environment on multiple concurrent assignments with shifting priorities.
