Senior .NET Developer (.NET Backend Solutions), £35-45k per annum

Thomas Cook Online is the London based business unit that manages all e-commerce activity across the group`s 33 branded travel websites in five European countries. This multi-billion Euro per annum business is now delivering an ambitious change programme to radically alter their online offering from a traditional online retailer to a full online travel agency.

Position: Senior .NET Developer
Location: London
Salary: £35-45k per annum

ROLE:
The Senior .NET Developer is accountable for development within the Core Engineering Department for all Thomas Cook Group applications. You will be developing critical areas of all backend .NET applications to improve them as well as take responsibility for all .NET based developments.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
a) Deep understanding of OO design and strong knowledge on Design Patterns.
b) Develop solutions using several core technologies like. NET4.0, WPF with Prism, Entity Framework 4.0, SQL Server 2008.
c) Part of development team that build the .NET solutions for the Thomas Cook group aligned to Service Oriented Architecture.
d) Meet demand for .NET development company-wide, including new products, new site functionality, partnerships, and strategic internal applications.
e) Contribute to and deliver the Technology roadmap for the team`s continuous improvement and ability to leverage and adapt to new technologies.
f) Accountable for the development deliverable to the agreed timelines and quality standards
g) Participate in building the development time plan for all .NET applications allowing the business to structure the deliverables according to the ROI.
h) Engage in mid-level planning exercises with development team.
i) Work with the development managers and the solutions team to define the work packets for each release.
j) Accountable for the build development specification, build development components and the solution, delivering to the component solution to meet target architecture.
k) Validation of the target architecture with the solutions lead and the development team.
l) Implement the .NET development solutions to the agreed standards.
m) Implement the .NET development methodology and process for all channels/platforms within the Thomas Cook Group.
n) Document and establish all the above to an agreed standard and build training guidelines for the .NET Development teams for all channels/platforms within the Thomas Cook Group.
o) Proactive stakeholder management with forged strategic relationships (internally and externally) to facilitate input to future business direction.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
a) You must have extensive development experience in .NET .
b) Degree in Computer Science Engineering/Business Information Systems or equivalent IT qualifications.
c) Knowledge of application infrastructure and databases (MSSQL 2008 or Oracle).
d) Excellent Development skills showing experience of TDD, DDD Pair Programming and excellent Knowledge of SCRUM and Agile principles.
e) Good interpersonal, excellent verbal, written communication and organisational skills.
