Senior Network Administrator
NCI: As a Senior Network Administrator for AdvanceMed, a premier provider of healthcare program integrity services, this pivotal role provides technical assistance and guidance to staff with emphasis on User Support, and supporting the operations of a national server and network infrastructure with particular focus on the Windows platform at the Baltimore Data Center.
Highlight of Responsibilities
- Configure and support local area network (LAN) hardware and software.
- Responsible for ensuring the information and data integrity of the Network Operations function including backup and recovery.
- Adheres and enforces network and data security requirements including researching solutions for alerts resulting from Nessus and other security monitoring tools.
- Participates in direct telephone and in-person User support.
- Writes, edits, and revises documentation for product development, support services, and customer/end-user activities.
- Reports directly to the Network Manager.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for applications in the Windows environments, and any other authorized software applications for internal and remote users.
- Handles installation and configuration of Windows Operating systems and other office automation tools, e.g., MS Office, MS Outlook, Visio, Project and Publisher.
- Coordinate third party maintenance for network equipment and troubleshoots problems with users on the network.
- Provides Help Desk and Network support for all AdvanceMed clients, including internal and remote users.
- Monitors network performance to maintain high quality transmission service on the network.
- Perform software updates.
- Enforces security procedures and assists with maintenance of disaster recovery plans.
- Maintains, creates/deletes user accounts, assigns passwords, and monitors use of resources, back up files as required.
- Adheres and enforces network and data security requirements including researching solutions for alerts resulting from Nessus and other security monitoring tools.
- Creates and maintains inventory for all hardware and software.
- Evaluates system resources, makes recommendations for procurement where necessary. Communicates with users regarding scheduled repairs, installations, and changes to company hardware and software.
- Purchases and receives hardware and software adhering to departmental budget constraints.
- Tracking and maintenance of licensing agreements.
- Implements and coordinates network policies, procedures, and standards.
- Provides occasional weekend and evening coverage as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned to contribute to IT and/or program goals and objectives.
Requirements
- 6 years minimum of Windows Server.
- 3 years minimum of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Working knowledge of current internal and external networking protocols and equipment, data communication/encryption techniques and methodologies, operating systems, network design and security, and monitoring/management tools.
- Ability to work in-group settings with End Users, clients and staff.
- Excellent organization skills, attention to detail and communication skills, both written and oral.
- 3 years experience with network backup software.
- Experience with Windows workstation and network operating systems, Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, Firewall configurations preferably Juniper.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, or related field, or equivalent experience and a minimum six years of related experience.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Certification and Network Training, i.e. Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE).
- Experience maintaining backups with Comvault backup software.
