Modis is seeking a High Touch Network Engineer to support our client in providing in-depth Routing Protocol and LAN Switching expertise to large Service Provider and Enterprise customers. This is an opportunity to utilize your experience to ensure smooth operation of the client’s high availability networks.

 

Duties and responsibilities include:

 

·         Providing Network Problem Resolution, Root-Cause Analysis, and IOS Software Referral assistance

·         Acting as a technical expert in Routing GSR, LAN Switching specific to NEXUS, 7600 6K, Multicast, QoS and Layer 2 technologies.

·         Providing technical assistance in Routing Protocol/Large Scale Architecture, Security, and/or other customer-specific technologies as necessary.

·         Working on problems of diverse scope where analysis requires evaluation of identifiable factors.

·         Providing guidance and leadership to less experienced engineers.

·         Acting as a focal point for large account network problem resolution.

·         Providing support on a world-wide basis.

 

Qualifications:

·         Typically requires BS in CS or EE or equivalent plus 8-10 years related experience.

·         At least 2 years experience troubleshooting Routing/Switching across Cisco platforms.

·         Minimum of 4 years of networking experience, including configuring, analyzing troubleshooting complex networks

·         Strong Layer 2 knowledge as this position will primarily focus on supporting Cisco Switching platforms.

·         NEXUS and Catalyst 6500 experience

·         Multicast: General multicast knowledge and knowledge of troubleshooting multicast, specifically on NEXUS and the Catalyst 6500.

·         Ability to drive recreates remotely in order to isolate the issue and resolve.

·         Proven crisis management skills, and the ability to excel under pressure.

·         Demonstrated excellence in customer-interaction, written and verbal communication, assertive leadership.

·         CCIE is strongly preferred
