Senior Network Engineer Job in Hanover, Maryland Us

Maintain Client’s corporate data communications network to include network implementation,

configuration of routers, switches, firewalls, gateways and terminal servers; carry out the maintenance

of all networking assets; and maintaining equipment configurations for back up and recovery purposes.

Perform network troubleshooting as needed; work with vendors and telecommunications service

providers to ensure continuous network availability; 24x7x365 network/automated sub-systems support

to include non-business off-hours.

Engineering of Client’s data networks to include Client’s LANs, WANs and Internet access points.

Work in conjunction with the Security Engineer to implement controls to maintain data security through

enabling/disabling network protocols and/or by restricting access to specific networks, subnets or

servers in keeping with Client’s security policies.

Implementation and configuration of physical plant at all client locations – including network cabling,

patch panels, punch down blocks, demark/extend demarks and communications racks.

Participation in the execution of yearly data network disaster recovery testing at Client’s hot site;

provide support for all audit assessment activities.

Qualified candidates must have the following:

Bachelor's degree in an IT related field of study or 5 years of related experience and/or training; or

equivalent combination of education experience.

CCNA or CCDA Cisco certification required; CCIP, CCDP or CCNP certification preferred.

Expert knowledge of data networking equipment and topologies used in a financial institution – including

Gigabit Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Fiber, 802.11a/b/g/n, MPLS, ISDN PRI, T3, T1, Metro Ethernet,

Fractional-T1 and 56KB.

In-depth knowledge of Cisco Internetworking with a heavy emphasis on switching and routing (BGP,

EIGRP, OSPF, HSRP etc.) and Cisco IOS.

An in-depth knowledge of IP networking fundamentals (OSI, frames, packets etc.)

Ability to troubleshoot network issues at the protocol/packet level using sniffers, protocol analyzers,

netflow, etc.

Familiarity with network security and its tools – including but not limited to firewalls, IDS/IPS, network

access controls.

Familiarity with Cisco VoIP, including PoE switches, Call Manager Unity; server/host based

networking experience (MS Windows, UNIX, Citrix); familiarity with network and performance monitoring

tools (Solarwinds NPM preferred).

Experience in Citrix/thin client environments and experience in the financial services industry.

Minimum of 5 years experience with Data Networking and Security, Internet firewalls/VPNs, LAN/WAN

design.
