Our client is a leading provider in its field and is a fast growing medium sized Australian organisation. With project work underway and other business there is a requirement for a contactor to backfill the Senior Network Engineer for a 9 month period.
The Senior Network Engineer position is responsible for 70% hands on technical guidance and project work and 30% leading a team of 2 server network engineers in day to day operations of the systems and networks. Day to day responsibilities include:
- Ensure server and application on demand computing needs meet organisational requirements.
- Support a team of 2 Systems and Network Engineers
- Develop and maintain a server hardware and software lifecycle
- Analyse and provide recommendations for network improvements that meet business requirements
- Project management of tasks as they relate to IT Operations.
- Vendor management.
- Ensure the accuracy of incident, problem and change records
- Proactive monitoring of IT infrastructure to reduce the likelihood and impact of IT incidents.
- Ensuring IT maintains a low risk profile and a secure IT environment.
- Ensure all documentation is kept up to date
- Manage and develop the IT SharePoint environment.
- Maintain and develop the IT asset and software license registers.
Key projects over the next 12 months include common infrastructure upgrade, HDS SAN expansions, wireless network replacement remote sites, DR and more. Preference applies to those with experience in these areas.
To be considered for this role it is essential you have the following skills and experience:
- Preferred Tertiary qualification or Microsoft Certification in Information Technology.
- Broad knowledge of information systems infrastructure capabilities, applications and packages.
- Solid technical understanding of Microsoft architecture, tools and related products supporting server and network environments.
- Understand managing networks for complex remote sites
- Solid skills in MPLS network and managing VPN communication required
- Experience setting VPN configuration from point to point essential
- Solid experience with IPsec
- Experience with SCADA systems highly regarded
- ITIL experience
- Good communications both written and verbal
- Team leadership skills
