Description:

Position Summary The Network/SystemsEngineer is responsible for providing innovative and robust network and system solutions to support the information technology infrastructure of NFS. This position also supports various technologies implemented by the company to run their flood insurance processing business. This will include design, analysis, project planning, resolving daily operation issues and recommendations for solutions. This position reports to the IT Operations Infrastructure Manager and will be 70% Network Engineering, 30% Systems Support.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities

• Create, maintain and follow standards, policies, and procedures
• Network, systems and applications engineering (analysis, design, and implementation)
• Network, systems and applications security
• Routine network, system, and application reviews, documentation creation and maintenance
• Infrastructure disaster recovery
• Level III operations support including on-call rotation
• Project management of IT engineering projects including: identify risks and issues, leading the vision and direction of a project team, and meeting timelines
• Maintains current knowledge of hardware and software changes, and plans for changes in response to dynamic business needs.
• Plans, analyzes, and implements complex technology; defines requirements for creative, logical, and effective systems; confers with management to determine feasibility of recommendations.
• Must be able to concisely communicate issues, provide suggestions for solutions as well as document problem resolutions.
• Continue to develop skills, knowledge and ability to improve processes and procedures as well as to staying up-to-date on trends and developments in the industry. This includes meeting annual personal development goals.

Job Related Experience:
• 7+ years of systems/networking experience in multi-platform environments
• Consideration given to 5+ years of experience with Cisco network certification
• Microsoft and Cisco certifications/training preferred
Skills and Abilities:
• Networking design and support, including in depth IP routing knowledge: tcp/ip, routing, switching, load balancing, DNS, DHCP, IPS/IDS
• VMware Server Virtualization Technologies
• Storage Solutions: SAN, NAS, ISCSI, fileservers
• Microsoft client and server products: Office, Outlook, Project, Visio, ISA, PKI, Exchange, SQL, MOSS, TFS, WSUS/SMS
• Active Directory design and support
• Monitoring: Solarwinds or other solutions
• Enterprise Backup design and management
• Antivirus solutions design and management
• Scripting and Automation languages: vbscript, .net, LDAP, GPO, WMI, SNMP, IIS/HTML, powershell, xml
Minimum Education:
• Bachelors degree in computer science related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
