Senior Operational Risk Analyst
My client is looking to add a new member to the Risk Team in London to perform operational risk assessments of hedge fund managers.
The role involves:
Performing an analysis of hedge fund businesses with the goal of identifying key risks that the business and fund investment poses to potential/current investors.
Frequent on-site interaction with senior hedge fund operational leadership members (i.e. COOs, CFOs, GCs, and CCOs) as part of the initial and on-going due diligence process.
Assisting in the structuring of investments across my client’s managed account platform.
Reporting back findings in a timely manner to all members of the research team in an open discussion forum.
Documenting due diligence findings in a comprehensive report, ensuring key risks are understood, documented, mitigated or resolved prior to the completion of due diligence.
The team member will work closely with other teams including:
Manager Research team as part of performing due diligence over the life of an investment.
Managed Account Team on the set up and execution of managed accounts, ensuring implementation of the relevant business risk points.
Support management, sales and client services teams on projects and client driven requests.
An ideal candidate will have the following credentials and skills:
Professional experience of 7-15 years in one of the following areas (or preferably a combination): hedge fund operational due diligence experience, public accounting at a “Big Four” firm with audit experience in alternatives, internal audit, prime brokerage, credit risk, or working in accounting or operations at a hedge fund.
Flexible and proactive team player; willing to help team members in both London and New York with various projects and tasks.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Able to work in a globally oriented, entrepreneurial environment.
Understanding of and ability to evaluate: operational risks within the hedge fund industry, application of consistent policy of financial asset valuation, potential risks or weaknesses of counterparty and service provider terms and compliance/regulatory standards and issues.
Chartered Accountant or CPA strongly preferred.
