Senior Operational Risk Audit Manager recruitment

In recognition of the importance of Operational Risk as an evolving and specialist risk discipline, a dedicated Global Operational Risk Audit Team has been established to provide assurance that:

* operational risk is effectively managed across the Group to mitigate current and emerging risks within appropriate risk appetite
* the framework meets the regulatory requirements of the Standardised Approach and supports the future migration to the Advanced Measurement Approach.

Principal Accountabilities
Reporting to the Group Head of Operational Risk Audit, the principal accountabilities of the job-holder are to:

* Contribute to the development and maintenance of an appropriate and effective operational risk internal audit strategy based on a comprehensive understanding of how operational risk is originated, measured and managed.
* Plan and manage audit activities covering the development and implementation of operational risk framework and its on-going management across the Group (i.e. countries, regions, customer groups and global businesses / functions).
* Ensure buy-in of key stakeholders to audit activities which should fully meet their expectations whilst remaining independent.
* Provide direction and support to the Regional audit teams in the discharge of operational risk related audit activities and ensure that audit work is completed to high and consistent standards.
* Through independent and objective assurance and consulting services, generally foster a strong operational risk control culture throughout the Group.
* Initiate and sustain positive and collaborative working relationships with all key stakeholders, which include regulatory authorities, external auditors, committees of the board and senior management.
* Maintain a full understanding of the industry and regulatory developments, including the management of operational risk for capital adequacy purposes.

Experience / Skills Required
* Strong educational background, relevant professional qualification preferred.
* Strong knowledge and experience of operational risk management within a banking environment.
* Good understanding of the Standardised and Advanced capital management approaches.
* Advanced understanding of risk and control concepts.
* Strong written and verbal articulation skills (English) and an ability to positively influence senior executives.
* Capable of working on own initiative, participating effectively in a team environment and directing others to achieve high professional work standards.
* Ability to influence other Group audit teams outside direct control.
* Ability to understand complex issues, manage conflict and provide pragmatic business oriented solutions.
* Willingness to travel extensively world-wide (minimum 40%)
