Key Functions
The successful candidate will build and direct the activities of all underlying staff to ensure efficient and effective business operations, compliance with firm’s policies and procedures and ensure that all such policies and procedures conform to regulatory requirements. Additionally, this person will be responsible for risk management supervision and the completion of department goals, objectives and staff development.
Position Scope
The Senior Manger will have multiple operations areas reporting into them. This would include but, may not be limited to, Corporate Actions, Dividends, New Accounts, ACATs, Alternative Investments, Tax Reporting, Cost Basis and Customer Statements/Confirms. Each unit is responsible for the total administration, support and activity affecting the firm's correspondent and customer activity. The Senior Manager will be responsible for any vendor support and that relationship that is integral to the areas under their direction. In addition to this the manager of these areas is responsible for the maintenance of the appropriate documentation and procedures to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory and internal company requirements. The individual in this position must be well versed with securities industry rules and regulations pertaining to all areas. This person should have an in depth knowledge of the various security instruments (both domestic and foreign).
The successful candidate will be communicating with other broker/dealers, correspondent firms and regulatory and government contacts. This individual will have input to staff hiring, performance appraisals, and compensation. This individual will be responsible for staff training, development, and directing work flow to ensure all procedures and risk management processes are complete. In addition, this individual will assist in the development of MIS reporting which monitors and measures staff activities.
Principal Accountabilities
- Review and monitor daily activity reports to ensure regulatory and risk compliance in all areas.
- Review, monitor and approve all error accounts and write off reports.
- Research and respond to correspondent inquiries and expedite problem resolutions.
- Direct, review and monitor projects as assigned to by senior management.
- Support correspondent relations by assisting with product development and conversion requirements.
- Support correspondent relations by utilizing good customer service skills.
Qualifications/Requirements
- 7-10 years experience in the securities industry (brokerage operations) with a focus in tax reporting is preferred.
- 2-5 years managerial experience
- Thorough understanding of FINRA and Securities Exchange Commission (SEC), and cost basis regulations, particularly as they impact customer statements.
- Thorough understanding of IRS reporting requirements particular to requirements for the securities industry.
- Ability to handle and monitor multiple tasks and projects and working under pressure of deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Sound customer service skills.
