Senior Optical Engineer Job in San Jose 95113, California US
We are currently seeking a seasoned Optical Engineer for an excellent opportunity to design and develop class leading electro and micro optic designs for telecom applications! This is YOUR opportunity to invent cool new optical products helping to speed up the internet and change the way people live and work! Because of the demand from Tier 1 companies such as Cisco, ZTE, and Huawei, this role has been opened to help solve client problems and create new products based on customer requirements. With this in mind you'll have the opportunity to work with mechanical and software engineers to create brand new products!
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Suitable candidate will design and develop class leading electro and micro optic design for telecom applications
-With solid background in physics and math, the right candidate will engage in the design and development of innovative micro optic designs with a global cross functional team consisting of optics, electronics, software, and mechanical
-Leveraging strength in InP, GaAs, LiNbO3, LC, and thin film technologies is strongly encouraged. The right candidate will take calculated risks in technology exploration to set new value benchmark for telecommunication industry
-Lead or participate in the design and development of micro optics based components
-Support transfer and production of passive optical devices to China
-Analyze and respond to customer and marketing requirements to meet new and specific customer needs
-Integrate and report all technical perspectives at milestones
QUALIFICATIONS:
-Ph. D in Physics or Optics
-10+ years of experience in the field of optics
-Track record of designing optics and development of optical systems
-Experience with micro optics and free space optics design
-Experience with optical design tools like Zemax and/or Code-V
-Skills in fiber-optic packaging process
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-Knowledge of component requirements for 40G,100G systems
-Knowledge of Telecordia requirements
-DFSS (Design for Six Sigma)
-Patent history
-Solid Works experience
-Labview
