Senior Patent Operations Administrator Job in Foster City 94404, California US
The Senior Patent Operations Administrator will be responsible to oversee all administrative functions of our core patent operations, including data entry, case docketing, file management, invoice processing and title administration. In addition to the core operations, the candidate will be responsible completing audit operations, for maintaining and updating our outside counsel guidelines, conducting research on patent portfolios and companies, handling annual chargebacks with parent company, compiling reports, contribute to development of new tools and procedures for the department, classifying inventions and maintaining an internal classification index, and handling special projects.
This is an exciting job opportunity for a seasoned patent operations leader who is looking to take the patent bar exam and gain prosecution experience in addition to their duties in handling administration for the patent group. This is also an exciting job opportunity for a newly minted patent agent who has a paralegal background and who has worked in-house in a patent operation, where they are seeking to gain patent prosecution experience while also still be willing to handle patent administrative duties for the department.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting in the design and architecture of all administrative operations and technologies
- Ensuring that prosecution activity is accurately docketed into the operational database
- Responsible for oversight of audit and invoice processing
- Ensure timely flow of ideas into patents
- Ensure third party handling of annuity payments
- Capture statistics and generate reports detailing patent portfolio
- Writing cease and desist letters in connection with third party infringing products
- Depending on the candidate, engaging in prosecution activity
- Ability to quickly retrieve patent information, family history, papers, titles etc from any patent office worldwide
- Experience using tools to gather intelligence about company status and assets
- Deep understanding of patents plus knowledge of copyrights and trademark
- Understanding latest trends in video games and consumer electronics
Preferred Experience / Education:
- Patent agent status preferred but not required
- Scientifically minded with technical degree
- Ability to read and understand CLAIMS
- Knowledge of gaming and consumer electronics trends
- CPI (Computer Packages, Inc) database experience
Required Experience / Education:
- Must have at least 10 years patent field support of prosecution activity
- At least 50% of experience in-house versus at law firm
- A Bachelor's degree from a 4-year university
