Senior & Principle Stress Job in South West England, South West Uk
We are working on an exclusive campaign for the UK's leading engineering services provider based in the South West due to an extensive order book and long term defence contracts. They currently require approximately 6 Principle and Lead Stress Structural engineers.

Our client is a market leader in the fields of defence and nuclear engineering and enjoys the backing of a large international group. As a design and manufacturing specialist, the client has the capability to take an idea, develop the design, build and manufacture the product.
The Opportunity
As an integral member of the Stress and Structural analysis team, candidates at this level would normally be expected to perform work involving considerable independence in approach, demanding originality, ingenuity and judgment. The individual will make technical decisions and check/approve safety of life analyses. Ideally, candidates will be a member of a relevant institution and hold Chartered or Incorporated status.
Your work will involve the analysis of complex Defence systems equipment. You may be requested to undertake concept or detailed design dependent upon the maturity of the projects underway.
Main activities will include:
The origination, checking and approval of stress analyses
Generation of analysis plans
Providing guidance to design teams on the strength implications of mechanical designs
The sentencing of non-conformities
Development of analysis techniques and company standards
You will have
Either a relevant HNC/HND qualification or first/further degree (or equivalent)
Extensive analysis experience
A strong background in stress analysis methodologies
Mathcad Finite Element Analysis
any formal stress analysis codes or standards
A strong grasp of classical stress analysis techniques applied to a high integrity engineering environment.
Experience of typical texts by authors such as Bruhn, Peterson, Niu, Blevins Blodgett
An understanding of the fundamentals of FE (including its limitations)
Undertaken shock vibration analyses
An understanding of mechanical design at system and sub-system level (including mechanisms structures)
Be able to plan and forecast stress analyses in terms of cost and duration.
Experience of Defence or Nuclear preferred Med to Heavy Engineering ideal
Successful applicants will need to satisfy UK Ministry of Defence security requirements.
