We are looking for a successful Senior Process Engineer for our Romeo. MI location
Summary of primary duties and responsibilities:
· Research and analyze processing related systems that will enhance the company's abilities to meet the customer's needs. These needs should take into account the end user's function, timing and cost impact.
· Evaluate the cost/benefit relationship of potential improvements. Propose and seek approval for system based on value and greatest potential for increased profits.
· Design the system and/or process to take into account safety, ergonomics, cycle time, robustness, ease of setup, maintainability and manufacturability of the design.
· Obtain and evaluate bids from suppliers for items required in the construction of tooling and equipment. Initiate purchase requisitions for the items to be supplied from outside the company. Sourcing is to take into account budgeted funds with the assistance of the purchasing department and reduced service parts inventory through standardization and function.
· Direct and coordinate activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of systems.
· Establish and document operating, safety, and maintenance instructions.
· Teach personnel in the safe operation of implemented systems.
· Work alongside the Research and Development Processing group during Scale-up of all new and changing formulations. Prepare and implement all required processing equipment and procedures to robustly produce these new and changed materials in production.
· Establish manufacturing parameters based on the statistical capabilities of the process to produce high quality product. Maintain and improve process capabilities of existing products.
· Prepare Potential Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA’s) for all new launched parts. Utilize Part Prints, DFMEA’s, Material Specifications and Equipment controls/limits as reference for the creation of PFMEA’s. Work with the Quality Assurance department to see that these are carried over into the Control Plans and Floor Paperwork.
· Interface with production personnel to troubleshoot and eliminate material quality and process failure issues.
· Oversee the development of a statistical baseline and documentation for understanding our processes, equipment, and chemistry.
· Champion and participate in company and plant wide initiatives. This includes documentation preparation, training, corrective actions, trials, and presentations.
Environmental Responsibilities:
- Assist the Engineering Manager in setting, periodically reviewing and modifying the plant's environmental objectives and targets.
- Support the Engineering Manager in the proper implementation and maintenance of the EMS.
- Provide necessary environmental reporting based on actual production material usage data, (ex. generating the information/reports required for TRI, Sara Title III and Air Permits.)
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or Polymer Science/Processing or related program
- Five Years Manufacturing Experience
- Solid Communicator
- Experience in Chemical and part processing
- Knowledge of chemical, mechanical and electrical systems
- Prefer some CAD experience (ex. SolidWorks, AutoCad)
- Project Management
- Corrective/Preventative Action, APQP, PFMEA, Control Plan
- Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Lotus Notes, Oracle
