An excellent career opportunity is currently available for a Senior Process Engineer located at the Resins Chemical manufacturing facility in Chester, VA.
Honeywell's Performance Materials Technologies Resins and Chemicals business offers a robust product portfolio and manufacturing capabilities to a wide variety of customers worldwide. Products include the nylon feedstock caprolactam and other chemicals, ammonium sulfate fertilizers, specialty polymers, and textile fibers.
Honeywell's Chesterfield, Va. plant is home to its Resins business. Products include value-added nylon and specialty nylon resins, marketed under the Aegis™ brand name, for both industrial and consumer product applications. For the packaging segment, this business offers an ever-expanding range of homopolymers and copolymers in low, medium and high viscosities, with a broad range of additive and lubricant packages. These resins can be used to provide excellent barrier properties to oxygen, flavors, and aromas, plus excellent strength, tear, and puncture resistance.
Job Responsibilities Include:
- Develop long-term solutions to eliminate reoccurring area process problems
- Process/production engineering support for minor capital project needs and productivity/process stability initiatives for your area.
- Responsible for improving the baseline value of key area metrics toward entitlement values (or beyond entitlement values where possible) through contributions to high-impact Six Sigma teams.
- Responsible for execution of 'Improve' and 'Control' steps in Six Sigma DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve Control) process
- Responsible for restoring baseline values of key area metrics for which restoration attempts by the Production department have been unsuccessful (for problems other than mechanical breakdown)
- Accountable for implementing robust control plans for process improvement projects by fully utilizing control system capabilities
- Assist with SOP and training material development
- Execution of Management of Change process for your area
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date PIDs and PFDs for your area
- Provide back-up for Operations Leader
- Provide engineering support and assistance as requested for other areas of the plant

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- 2 years experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 yrs experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment preferred
- Leadership experience a plus
- Project engineering or project engineer
- Demonstrated effectiveness in working with individuals at all levels of an organization
- Demonstrated Ability to use influencing skills to accomplish goals and objectives
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Six Sigma certification preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledgeable of area process equipment, textile, chemistry and controls.
- Strong computer skills.
- SAP experience would be a plus
- Lean manufacturing experience a plus.
