Senior Product Tax Specialist recruitment
The Senior Product Tax Specialist will have financial services experience including global withholding tax and reporting. The candidate will be primarily responsible for performing tax related due diligence for new products and new markets, ensuring the company is adhering to appropriate cross border and global withholding tax rates for US and non US lenders and borrowers, and providing technical and product tax support for auction information websites, lending transactions, corporate actions/income collection, and relationship management. Other responsibilities include identifying business requirements and implementing the necessary controls and/or restrictions for each transaction, participating in industry tax associations and providing market and tax summaries and updates to business units as applicable. There is a strong preference for an attorney with a tax background and/or tax experience for this position.
Major competencies should include:
• Tax and business experience, ideally with securities lending experience or knowledge.
• Knowledge of Global Withholding Tax Rules for US and non US lenders and borrowers
• Familiarity with IRS reporting requirements and IRS W8 forms
• Communication and Relationship Skills
Major Duties and Responsibilities will include:
• Perform tax related due diligence and interface with external tax service providers.
• Ensure tax advice is implemented and translated to the business units and implement any controls as necessary.
• Monitor and review global withholding tax changes for all asset classes in each lender jurisdiction.
• Maintenance of all Lenders’ withholding tax rates.
• Provide internal business units with updates on withholding tax developments, implications, opportunities and/or recommendations.
• Provide client tax matrices for each Auction Information Center.
• Review cross-border tax transactions and implications.
• Develop a “tax database” of borrower/lender approved transactions.
• Participate in industry conferences and working groups
• Support Compliance Department as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelors degree in Finance or Accounting
• JD (or LLM in Tax) is strongly preferred.
• Position requires financial services experience, preferably with knowledge of both equity and fixed income securities lending and repo transactions and global withholding tax as it relates to these transactions. Candidate must be detail oriented; have excellent oral and written communication skills; be extremely organized; be capable of managing multiple projects; work well under tight deadlines; and possess good problem solving skills.
