RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

AMEC is soliciting a full time Senior Professional Engineering position that provides comprehensive engineering design and design review in support of projects of extensive scope and complexity.  Engineering services will be based on a comprehensive knowledge and consistent application of theories, precepts, concepts, and practices related to the heavy civil and mechanical engineering disciplines.

 

Candidate is a licensed professional engineer experienced in the preparation of design packages and construction documents for a broad range of large scale water resource related projects associated with major public work initiatives. Experience and good rapport with key South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) staff is preferred. 

 

Engineering duties include developing complete design packages for various sizes of diesel engine and electric motor driven large scale pumping systems; submersible electric pumps; hydraulically operated gate hoist mechanisms and cable drum hoist mechanisms for vertical lift water control gates; and hydraulic power systems for applications such as boat locks. Engineering assessment, design, and analysis will be completed for both new construction as well as the refurbishment of aging infrastructure.  Design packages will typically include construction drawings, technical specifications, and detailed design support documentation including cost estimates.

 

Candidate may be tasked with the review of discipline specific designs developed by other engineers and provides technical coaching/ mentoring to less seasoned engineering staff.  Incumbent is responsible for keeping immediate supervisor current on the status of deliverables and assignments.

  

Working environment is typically office oriented but field work in support of projects (site evaluation and construction oversight) is also required. This position may at times be required to provide support before, during, and after major storm events such as hurricanes.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Candidate will have a Bachelors Degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program and at least 15 years of related experience that demonstrates measurable career progression. Masters level education is preferred by not necessary provided substantial relevant experience is demonstrated. Candidate must possess active licensure as a Florida Professional Engineer (PE) and have a clean and reputable work history. The preferred candidate will have strong analytical skills and will be an exceptional team player. Excellent written and oral communications skills are necessary.  Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required and proficiency in AutoCAD is preferred.
