Senior Program Manager Job in Cambridge 02139, Massachusetts US

Vertex Pharmaceuticals is seeking a Senior Program Manager who possesses a working knowledge of mid to late stage drug development.  Candidates who have experience in managing both internally executed programs and programs co-developed with partners are preferred.

The Senior Program Manager reports to the Senior Director of Program Management within the Strategic RD Networks Department, and will be responsible for building, implementing, and maintaining unified, cross-functional plans for multiple late development stage assets within the Cystic Fibrosis (CF) disease area. This would include direct communication to development teams, Vertex oversight committees, and other internal stakeholders to ensure that clinical, CMC, non-clinical, and regulatory plans are in alignment.

The successful candidate will be innovative and yet highly methodical in his/her attention to detail and possess excellent communication skills, and will be a team player with well-developed skills for gaining the cooperation of others and brokering communication and harmony among both internal and external networks. He or she will also be expected to demonstrate the experience and foresight to identify proactively downstream program risks that may delay timelines and impede progress towards reaching goals, and will have the confidence, astuteness of mind, and communication skills to make crisp, explicit recommendations for courses of action to keep program timelines, scope, and cost on track.

Key Responsibilities:
*Develop cross-functional project plans for multiple late stage development of CF assets, as well as scenario planning and cost projections to NDA/MAA.
*Coordinate the compilation of succinct, well written reports and prepare minutes for select internal/external meetings. Methodically track all action items, and find innovative ways to stay abreast of this multidimensional task.
*Maintain frequent communication with the network of cross-functional internal and external stakeholders so that all parties are aware of current program status, issues, contingencies, and milestones.
*Prepare summary information on the progress of the program, timeline updates, and risk/opportunity assessment for periodic presentations to Vertex oversight committees and/or Joint-Development Committees (JDC).
*Interact and help bring the ideas and best practices of program management to the Program Management, RD group.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

*Bachelors's Degree
*3+ years of biomedical RD program management experience in a biotech or pharmaceutical company, including mid or late-stage program management experience

Preferred Qualifications
*Experience in managing RD programs co-developed with business partners
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
