Senior Project Manager – Data Architecture recruitment
Our client invests heavily in technology to support the business needs. A key element of the technology roadmap is a continuing programme of work to transform the existing data architecture and reporting offerings. This programme provides a firm foundation to allow the business to meet its growth aspirations moving forward.
This is a key role within the Enterprise and Product Delivery project team, responsible for the expansion of the core data warehousing and reporting capabilities to all business areas globally. This team aims to replace legacy systems, reduce the tactical solutions and manual processes across the business, introduce a core set of data hubs, data marts and reporting solutions to service the front, middle and back office operations.
As the Senior Project Manager the successful candidate will manage a diverse range of projects in terms of scope, size and complexity, with resources located in UK and Asia with a combination of direct and matrix reporting lines.
The Senior Project Manager will have full end-to-end responsibility for allocated projects including the business related activities.
The successful candidate will be accountable for the following:
- Establish a strong working relationship with senior managers in all Stakeholders group impacted by allocated projects
- Conduct planning, organisation and control of projects / workstreams to agreed timescales and budgets
- Ownership and management of project goals, risks, finances and resources
- Obtain agreement on project deliverables and ensuring that they meet all the requirements of both the business and across multiple systems groups
- Accountable for co-ordinating across multiple system groups and ensuring all impacted parties are co-ordinated and deliver to a common project goal.
- Management of project team in a direct and matrix style as required
- Development of junior team members
- Monitor current working practices and where necessary advise on suitable and pragmatic continuous improvements
- Scoping estimation of project requirements delivering sound strategies to meet business needs
- Establishing project timelines, action plans, risk management, change control procedures and monitoring progress against agreed timelines
- Facilitate business system workshops for business users of all levels
- Manage onshore-offshore UK/India development teams if required on allocated projects
- Preparation and presentation of Steering Committee materials
You will need to be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- Proven IT project management experience across the whole project lifecycle with a track record of successful implementations and strong business relationships
- Experience within the Asset Management or Investment Banking environment
- Managed projects with budgets in excess of £5M
- Strong experience working on all phases of the IT systems development life cycle
- Strong experience in implementing strategic data architectures, data warehouses, data marts, business intelligence and reporting solutions
- Experience working with offshore teams
- Delivery and results focused with the ability to manage complex client relationships
- Strong Analytical skills and a problem solver
- Ability to take high level directions/ideas and turn these into the required deliverables with the minimum of guidance
- Pragmatically apply knowledge and experience to ensure activities/processes undertaken as conducted in a cost effective manner
- Sound technical and business understanding and the commercial acumen to exploit IT for competitive advantage
- Practical experience of management and motivation of teams
- Experience of selecting, managing and working with a third party vendor or system integrator
- Ability to work with Senior Management and manage senior stakeholders
We are also looking for experience using Eagle PACE, Vermilion, Web Focus or other similar vendors as this would be an advantage.
The successful candidate will need to have recognised Project Management certification e.g. PRINCE2, PMI, MSP.
