Technical Project Manager Monterey Park, California JOB SUMMARY Responsible for managing assigned complex projects for ITG using the EPM project life cycle. Provides the necessary processes and deliverables required to manage projects successfully by overseeing multiple or single complex projects. Manages the team's efforts to ensure timeliness of project deliverables of on time and with in budget. Supports the bank's governance requirements and policies including stage gate agreements and other project control deliveralbes. Is familiar and supports the PMI knowledge areas of project integration, scope, time, cost, quality, resourcing, communications, risk and procurement mangement. COMMUNICATIONS: Excellent verbal and written skills Ability to communicate complex issues and ideas with absolute precision and clarity Ability to communicate effectively within all levels of the organization and externally with vendors Ability to prepare excellent formal management presentations Ability to organize and conduct effective meetings appropriate for the topic Ability to recognize and effectively communicate a course of action on difficult projects Ability to provide help and guidance to project team members on matters of communication Ability to provide guidance to other project managers in areas of communication Ability to read and understand complex legal contracts supporting vendor relationships WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Excellent ability to work within all levels of the organization and externally with vendors Ability to work independently and within teams Ability to develop effective interpersonal networks within the organization Ability to provide help and guidance to project team members on all matters of project management Ability to provide conceptual guidance to senior and high-level project managers Ability to serve as a consultant to top management in long-range planning Ability to serve as a department spokesperson in areas of project management technology ORGANIZATION and PLANNING: Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and successfully Excellent personal time-management skills Ability to develop and maintain complex project plans and manage work according to defined methodologies Effective management skills in a matrix environment where project participants report to other managers Ability to provide help and guidance to project team members on matters of organization and planning Ability to provide help and guidance to project managers on matters of organization and planning PROBLEM SOLVING and DECISION MAKING: Excellent ability to negotiate scope and approach to be employed on projects Excellent ability to solve practical problems and handle a variety of variables in situations with only limited standardization and guidelines Excellent ability to adapt to projects in various disciplines and technology areas in which the individual has had little or no prior experience Ability to resolve issues at the lowest possible organizational level, and the discernment to know when issues need to be escalated Effective analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to provide help and guidance to project team members on problematic matters and when decisions are needed Recognized as a resource in project management processes, competent to independently resolve complex problems Ability to initiate and develop innovative concepts to solve extremely complex problems with little or no precedent KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Excellent knowledge of information technology concepts, terminology and practices Excellent knowledge of project management practices Excellent knowledge of communication and documentation tools such as Microsoft Project, Excel, Word and Visio Five or more years of Information Technology Project Management experience demonstrated by successful completion of both hardware and software projects on both mainframe and non-mainframe architectures A Bachelor's degree (BA) from a four-year college or university, or five to seven years of related work experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience Professional Project Management (PMP) certification and supervisory experience is desired, but not a requirement The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.
