Job Description POSITION SUMMARY Manages the day-to-day activities of one or multiple complex business-sponsored IT projects (of which total cost of projects under management concurrently exceed $1 million) to deliver tasks on time, within budget, and within scope. Responsible for the success of the project(s). EDUCATION The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Master's degree. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS Project Management/Project Management Certification is required Project Management/Six Sigma Trained is desired FUNCTIONAL EXPERIENCES Project Management/Enterprise-wide project management/1-3 Years Project Management/Intra-department project management/1-3 Years Project Management/Project Manager/7-10 Years TECHNOLOGY EXPERIENCES Other/PlanView/1-3 Years/End User Desktop Tools/Microsoft Project/1-3 Years/End User Desktop Tools/Microsoft Excel/1-3 Years/End User REQUIRED SKILLS General Business/Ensuring Project Discipline/MASTERY DESIRED SKILLS Technology/Selecting and Applying Technology Solutions/MASTERY Leadership/Anticipating and Innovating/ADVANCED Leadership/Collaborating for Results/MASTERY ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION Provide management to assigned IT projects and assist by providing basic project management to project sponsors, business analysts, and subject matter experts Ensure that the project governance toll-gates are met and project statuses are maintained in combination with the required reporting and escalations Guide project teams through the project justification, cost benefit analysis and Executive Leader review while ensuring the appropriate level of process ownership responsibility Ensure project milestones are managed, with facilitation between process owners and IT Lead and facilitate other team members including business analysts, IT resources, subject matter experts, and sponsors Consciously interpret project risks and manage resolution through collaborative team work and/or escalation Assess project risks, interdependences, external client impacts, and resource conflicts while working collaboratively with project sponsors and business project managers to execute effectively on project goals and objectives Ensure collaboration between project sponsor, IT, and subject matter experts to establish the technical tradeoffs between usability, performance, and features while also looking for the lowest-cost alternative Manage multiple projects concurrently Act as the senior and go-to person on the IT project team for direction and issue resolution Act as IT Lead for EPM project phases of Inception, Elaboration, Construction and Transition Investigate non-standard requests and problems; make presentations to senior leadership; ensure project documentation is accurate and ensure projects are completed on time and within scope Independently manage key projects for assigned project teams Provide subject matter expertise in areas including project scope definition, risk identification, project methodology, resource allocation, facilitation, and other areas of expertise based on established project management techniques Make presentations to management on project updates, project cycle, and expected results. Ensure projects are completed on time and in scope May manage vendor and service providers to define project scope and performance expectations Generally work is self-directed and not prescribed Work with less structured, more complex issues Act as the senior and go-to person on the IT project team for direction and issue resolution Act as IT Lead for EPM project phases of Inception, Elaboration, Construction and Transition Aetna does not permit the use of tobacco related products or drugs in the workplace.
