Our client is a family-owned, global leader in ash handling systems and custom-engineered material handling systems for the power generation industry and preferred supplier for dry sorbent injection and reagent handling expertise. Headquartered in the USA, the company offers a global network of sales and service locations in over 60 countries around the world. For the European headquarters, based in Essen, Germany, we are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager.
This position requires a results-driven individual with well developed technical and social skills to lead project teams in the successful implementation of pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical materials handling projects. Typical projects include: design, procurement, manufacture, installation commissioning, and closure of materials handling systems for thermal power generation stations.
Main tasks include:
- Review company´s proposals and contract requirements to insure that labor hour, material, construction and other costs are accurately estimated to secure the Customer’s business while meeting company´s profit target
- Coordinate activities and monitor the performance of the Engineering and Procurement groups, as well as Construction team, to insure that deliverables meet accepted contract schedules
- Coordinate activities and monitor the performance of the Engineering groups, Procurement groups, and sub-contractors to insure that profit margins are met and system performance is not compromised. Identify risks and prepare action plans
- As company’s primary project contact, work with the Customer’s Project Manager/General Contractor/AE and company´s Suppliers to resolve open issues and recover or avoid any additional cost that might be incurred due to changes
- Provide timely, accurate, concise written and verbal communication on the status of the contract to the Customer and to company’s internal departments
- Schedule, monitor and control site construction activities through on site manager
- Provide appropriate direction and support to Field Service for effective commissioning and start-up
- Manage the project’s financial planning and accounting functions to insure that Customer payments are received according to the contract terms
- Secure future business opportunities by maintaining good Customer relationships by effectively managing all aspects of the Customer’s project
- Improve departmental processes, workflows, and software tools to reduce the amount of labor hours to complete common tasks
Qualifications:
- 5 - 8 years of project management experience, preferably within the power or process industries
- Previous experience in an engineering, manufacturing, technical sales, and/or field construction/commissioning environment
- Well developed understanding of project management methods and techniques (management of scope, cost, schedule, and resources, critical path analysis)
- Strong team leadership and general management skills
- Excellent organizational and communication (oral and written) skills
- Understanding of basic engineering principles, practices, drawings, and methods
- Understanding of basic construction planning, sequencing and scope management issues
Educational Qualifications:
- 4-year Engineering degree or equivalent
- Project Management or Business degree is desirable
- Project Management Professional (PMP) is desirable
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification is desirable
