Senior Project Manager – Managed Services / IT
The Senior Project Manager's primary responsibility is to manage and execute IT related projects for Fry’s Managed Services organization. The Senior PM takes a project from initial scoping through completion, ensuring that that projects are on time and meet, or exceed, the expectations of the team and of the clients. Example IT projects include: architecting and deploying complex client infrastructures, supporting disaster recovery and performance testing, and deploying new technologies to continually evolve Fry’s Managed Hosting services.
The Senior Project Manager manages the Fry Managed Services team and acts as the liaison between the Fry Professional Services and Managed Services teams. Additionally the Senior Project Manager will support the Fry Account Managers and Professional Services team in developing and strengthening client relationships.
Responsibilities:
- Manages the project team through creation of detailed and accurate project descriptions, estimates, functional and technical specifications, schedules, timelines and written status reports
- Understands and follows the established project and change management process and contributes to the further development of these processes
- Provides weekly status reports, project tracking updates, and overall assessments to project teams and Managed Services management
- Works with the Managed Services management to forecast resource requirements for projects
- Keeps the project team informed on specific and overall progress, manages scope, including identifying issues and working with the Account Manager and project teams on resolution plans
- Participates in and helps organize service review meetings with clients
- Helps to ensure incident and problem management processes are properly followed for hosted clients
Required Skills:
- A minimum of 5 years of project management experience in an Information Technology environment
- Possesses general understanding in the areas of networking, security, database, and system design
- Understands Internet, Intranet, Extranet and client/server architectures
- Strong organization, communication, and motivational skills; must be able to multi-task efficiently; must be able to communicate effectively with clients
- A self-starter attitude; strong organization and written and verbal communication skills
- Experience developing large enterprise or infrastructure projects
- Knowledge and experience managing a portfolio of concurrent projects
Desired Skills:
- Candidate must have a bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
- Experience working on externally facing client web sites
- Experience working in a hosting environment under SAS 70, PCI, and/or SOX audit controls
