Santander are currently looking for a Senior Project Manager to join the project arm of the Governance Control team within the Manufacturing Division. The role plays an important part in ensuring the Operational Accounting impacts of all elements of major projects undertaken by Santander UK are identified and understood.

You will be responsible for managing the team who will design, test and implement any new or enhanced accounting controls which must comply with Santander Accounting control standards, and be correctly applied and rolled out in the Santander UK BAU environment. The output from the Project team will enable the business to improve its internal controls and thereby play a part in it becoming one of the most efficient banks in the UK, particularly through its major integration projects.

This role will require regular travel to London, Liverpool, and possibly other UK centres with Santander offices, and may also require travel to Spain.

As a Senior Project Manager your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

* Qualified accountant with proven management experience
* Significant PQE working in a financial role in a fast moving financial services environment
* Experience of implementing complex integrated systems, preferably Partenon
* Exceptional influencing skills with the ability to be self-motivated and driven to achieve results
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentations to senior management and ability to proactively build relationships with internal and external peers
* Proven track record in managing a team to produce high quality deliverables within tight and immovable deadlines
* Ability to structure and analyse issues, suggest solutions and technically support the team as required to meet deadlines
* Excellent operational accounting knowledge and experience

As a Senior Project Manager your main responsibilities will involve:

* Lead a team of approximately 10 professionals in a complex and evolving environment, (including day to day management of staff to the required standards and objective setting)
* Develop, Manage and Control the output of the team ensuring:
o Accounting Control Models are developed appropriately and efficiently for all stakeholders
o All financial issues will be identified by the Control Models on a timely basis, in order to avoid
potential customer complaints or loss to the bank
o Identify increased efficiencies in control processes to enable to Control Models to be completed
on a timely basis without any compromise of controls
* Be the first point of contact for other business areas looking to engage the Project team any new Santander UK Projects
* Play a key role in maintaining key relationships with specific departments in Santander,
* Attend various senior management / executive forums, representing Governance Control
* Identifying resource requirements within the team through effective day to day management of individual workloads, and managing the recruitment process where extra resource is required
