Description:
This position reports to the Executive Director of Finance of the Massachusetts General Hospital. The Senior Project Specialist of the MGH Finance Office provides technical financial expertise, project management, and coordination with other finance and operational departments for a wide array of initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide high level and in-depth special project analysis for clinical departments and various strategic hospital initiatives. Project areas include:
- Service line revenue and cost analysis
- Financial management and budgeting process improvement projects
- Cost accounting data mining and analysis
- Special projects and presentation writing for the CFO
- Other ad hoc projects

• Provide central oversight and support for initiatives undertaken by other Analysts in the support of departmental projects.

• Develop strong working relationships with managers and staff within MGH Budget, Hospital Administration and clinical departments.

• Provide ongoing communication to manager related to progress, issues or concerns relative to the accomplishment of project goals.

• Promote a commitment to continuous personal and professional development and quality improvement.

Qualifications:

• Strong financial and operational analysis skills.
• Clear understanding of hospital billing and reimbursement.
• Strong data query and analytical skills. Experience with Eclipsys TSI or other cost accounting systems a plus.
• Fluency in Excel and Access a must.
• Ability to work effectively in teams.
• Ability to work independently with operating managers on issues such as cost analysis, product-line analysis, forecasting, and variance analysis.

Education and Experience

• Five to seven years experience in healthcare or hospital finance preferred
• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
