Senior Property Accountant recruitment

Objectives of Role: 

  1. To maintain and operate appropriate financial control of all property transactions for all real estate funds;
  2. To report the performance and financial position of all relevant properties on a timely and accurate basis;
  3. In conjunction with property management, analyse the performance of all relevant properties;
  4. To assist in the efficient operation of all financial management processes required for the effective operation of property management;

Accountabilities:

In order to achieve the objectives of the role, the Senior Property Accountant is responsible for the following.

a)    Property Reporting

Property level financial information to support the following reporting cycles:

                           i.   Annual audited Financial Statements;

                          ii.   Annual Retail Tenancies requirements (Outgoings)

                         iii.   Quarterly fund reporting;

                         iv.   Monthly management reporting; 

                          v.   Monthly Unit Pricing;

b)   Compliance

                           i.   Property level information for the annual income tax returns; and

                          ii.   Monthly/ quarterly Business Activity Statements.

c)   Financial Management

                           i.   Operation of the following processes:

                                1.  Lease to Receipt, including lease incentives;

                                2. Order to Pay, including capex; and

                                3. Tax Depreciation.

                          ii.   Performance of month end reconciliations:

                               1.  Bank reconciliations: and

                               2.  Balance Sheet reconciliations.

                         iii.  Budgeting

                               1.  Assistant to property management in the annual budgeting process.

d)   Treasury

                           i.   Maintaining appropriate cash flows for all properties to enable the  efficient  management of cash balances.

Required Qualifications Experience:

  1. Part qualified ACA, CPA or equivalent globally recognised qualification; and
  2. At least 3-5 years experience in real estate related industry.

Skills Competencies:

  1. Excellent communication skills, including discussing accounting matters with non- accountants;
  2. Comfortable operating in a collaborative team environment;
  3. High standards with attention to detail;
  4. Ability to operate independently without significant supervision;
  5. Demonstrated knowledge of large accounting and enterprise systems, MRI experience will be a distinct advantage;
  6. Commercially aware; and
  7. Leadership qualities with highest levels of integrity.
