POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

Senior Quality Engineer

My Aerospace precision metal components manuacturing client has a significant need for a Quality Engineer with strong metal cutting industry experience, AS9100/ISO9001 exposure, and a desire to move into a management role one day.  


Position Objective

 

This position is responsible for the implementing the Quality Management System under the direction of the Quality Assurance Manager to assure that all products manufactured by the organization meet customer specifications and achieve superior quality and reliability levels.  The incumbent is responsible for project management, program launches and working in conjunction with the Applications Engineers, supplier development and first article and source inspection.

 

 

Principal Responsibilities

1.  Assist Quality Manager in establishing, implementing and maintaining the quality management system.

2. Root cause analysis and implementation of corrective action for process related concerns.

3.Responsible for continuous improvement activities to enhance the quality system, such as 5S, Kaizen lean methods, etc.

4. Supervise and Support the Quality Inspectors to ensure that products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the quality management system.

5. Heavy supplier quality  monitoring and customer interaction responsibilities:
 - Ensure timely resolution of supplier failure, corrective actions and preventive actions.                          -  Manage suppliers’ performance and conduct audits
-  Analyze failure, corrective and preventive action to respond to customer complaints

6. Interface with Engineering and Operations to ensure transfer to Production of new products are in accordance with approved data.

7.  Conduct audits, including closing out audit findings, creating audits finding reports and determine proper corrective and preventive actions.

 

Qualifications

An AS degree (BS preferred), plus 5 years of experience in a QA department in a manufacturing environment or on-the-job experience consisting of 10 years of experience in a similar environment.  Must have experience with inspection of precision metal parts and assemblies.
AS9100(Aerospace industry standards),  ISO9001, and FAA exposure are all a big plus.
