Senior Quantitative Analyst recruitment

The purpose of the role is to identify and prototype pricing, valuation and risk analytics tools, processes and methodologies across the various areas of the business. The Senior Quantitative Analyst is also responsible for supporting the Head of Market Risk in day-to-day risk management activities across the business. These responsibilities will include monitoring, analysing, and reporting on the firm's market risk exposure, including Value-At-Risk, Option Greeks and stress testing.  The role requires a deep understanding of quantitative finance, particularly in the options and futures markets. As well as a broad understanding of information technologies.  This role will routinely provide analysis and guidance to the Head of International Credit, particularly on client portfolios held in clearing accounts with JBL.  An in-depth knowledge of derivatives, pricing and valuation, including exotic options, is mandatory. A working knowledge of trading and hedging strategies, specifically in the use of futures and options in the commodities markets, is essential for the role.

Key Responsibilities and Competencies

Front Office - identify, evaluate and prototype pricing and risk management models.  This responsibility is not limited to any particular trading desk, and includes both proprietary trading desks and pure brokerage desks.  This typically includes base metals, precious metals, agricultural and soft commodities and FX.

Risk Management - In the absence of the Head of Market Risk, the Senior Quantitative Analyst will ensure the uninterrupted full service of the market risk function.

Innovation - it is the responsibility of the Senior Quantitative Analyst to stay abreast of developments in the financial and technical markets to ensure their knowledge of best practice is up to date.

Authority - in the absence of the Head of Market Risk the Senior Quantitative Analyst is delegated the authority to temporarily approve certain trading limits excesses, ensuring adequate communication with senior local and functional management globally.

 Educational Requirements

A bachelor’s degree in economics and / or mathematics / quantitative discipline

Experience

Between 5 and 10 years’ experience in a quantitative field in the financial services sector.  This should include pricing, valuation and risk management of derivatives in the commodities sector/

Other

High levels of competence in Excel VBA, SQL and Transact-SQL.  Knowledge of statistical packages such as Matlab, R or SAS highly desirable.
