Senior Release Analyst
A large, successful organisation is currently looking for Senior Release Analysts to join their team. You will have worked for a large organisation in a similar capacity and are ITIL v3 certified.
A Senior Release Analyst is required to plan, manage and oversee all technical aspects of the end to end release and rollout of all software including configuration in line with standard procedures for the control, distribution/deployment and installation of changes within the release. Undertake the day-to-day tasks required so that software changes are traceable, secure and that only authorised and tested versions are installed.
Key Accountabilities
1.To technically set-up, manage and support all software releases whatever the size using the release/configuration tool and using where appropriate UNIX and Perl scripting solutions.
2. Manage releases within the end to end release policies and procedures in place at any time. These processes to interface with the appropriate change and configuration processes
3. Build and maintain a Release calendar of implementation phases and events
4. Identify future releases to build the schedule, including testing, pilot and rollout dates and events affecting implementation. Keep schedules to plan, connecting relevant parties and maintaining SLAs and support procedures.
5. Produce release notes, gather testing sign off, document back out options, include emergency fixes in release processes, and take appropriate actions if any of these are missing or inadequate.
6. Maintain Definitive Media Library (DML) so that it is fully utilised confirming that approved and tested package is held and maintained within agreed release management tools and control the software packaging and/or distribution of authorised applications.
Essential Skills
• An understanding of application components and how applications are built
• ITIL v3 Foundation
• ITIL v3 qualified to Service Design Lifecycle/Capabilities (Intermediate Level) or equivalent experience
•Proficient in Microsoft desktop operating systems
•Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, Word
•Familiar with Infrastructure Architecture, Operating Infrastructure
•A consummate communicator, both written and verbal
Desirable skills
• Unix administration skills
• An ability to write Perl or Shell scripts at a sophisticated level
• An understanding of the characteristics and differences between the HPUX and Windows operating systems
• Understanding of and ability to use SQL
• Sound experience of Mainframe and Distributed Systems environments
