The Position:
The Industrial Super Abrasives (ISA) Division is actively seeking a Senior Research Engineer (SRE) who will lead multiple new products to completion and engage in process development projects. It is expected that the individual will work closely with product management, manufacturing teams and will have interactions across a broad range of levels, expertise, and geographic regions. It will be of key importance to learn from experienced individuals in the industry, assess requirements and develop new products for the electronic business sector.

The projects are diverse and innovative in areas of material science, fillers, abrasives, grinding, organic inorganic chemistry, composite manufacturing and characterization.

SRE will actively promote the creation and refreshing of a grassroots proactive culture of safety by being a personal example and by encouraging, empowering, and involving all staff in safety.

10-20 % traveling may be required.

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
Skills associated with a Ph.D. The researcher must be able to work effectively with different cultures and business climates and across reporting relationships, geographies and functions. Expectations are the candidate will have
• 0-3 years experience; ME background a plus
• broad knowledge of metals, abrasives, chemical, or composite industry including formulation, processing, applications and characterization
• knowledge in ceramic industry plating, coating
• hands on experience in developing new product or process from concept into product development and through prototype design, qualification, completion and transfer of technology into manufacturing for volume production of new products.
