Senior Research Engineer
Introduction:
The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Senior Research Engineer.
Job Summary:
Advanced Tactical Information Systems Group is looking for Senior Research Engineer to be a part of technical team and support development of advanced models and algorithms for the situational assessment, classification, information fusion and automated exploitations of the heterogeneous information.
Duties:
- Utilize existing and create new data association methods to confirm known and discover new unknown correlations between different data streams.
- Analyze both structured and unstructured data streams.
- Develop models for the situational assessment and data fusion.
- Document results of the research activities and write technical reports, conference papers and journal articles.

Required Qualifications:
PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent combination of technical degree and relevant experience. Demonstrated ability to build algorithms, mathematical models or similar applications. Creative thinker with track record of generating innovative ideas and implementing them into practical applications. Strong knowledge of the data mining, game theory and data fusion methods. Experience with Matlab is required. Ability to rapidly learn requirements of the new domains and develop practical solutions to address emerging challenges. Working knowledge of Object Oriented Programming (OOP), C++, Java and Linux is required. Must be able to work effectively as a technical leader or as a part of a multidisciplinary technical team. Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
Desired Qualifications:
Strong publications record in peer-reviewed literature. Demonstrated successful technical leadership experience. Experience with both structured and unstructured data analysis and processing. Strong knowledge of radar and IR data is desired.
Special Working Conditions: May require occasional travel.
