Senior Resource Finance Geologist recruitment
Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities (FICC) provides a variety of services across the globe with an underlying specialisation in interest rate, commodity or foreign exchange related institutional trading, marketing, lending, clearing or platform provision.
FICC operates in most major trading markets and emerging markets around the world.
Macquarie's Metals and Energy Capital Division provides debt, mezzanine and equity finance as well as commodity and currency hedging and trading facilities to its clients in the oil and gas, base metal and precious metal sectors. These clients are serviced from existing offices in Sydney, Perth, London, Tokyo, Houston and Vancouver.
In response to the ongoing growth of our business, we are currently seeking to appoint an ambitious Mining professional with Geology qualifications and industry experience to join the Group's Metals Energy Capital finance team. The Metals Energy Capital team is part of Macquarie's Fixed Income Currency and Commodities Group and has been providing resource financing solutions to the global resources sector for over 20 years.
As an integral part of the team, you will be:
- directly involved in sourcing, structuring and assessing new finance facilities and investments in the resources sector
- analysing technical, commercial and financial information and preparing presenting submissions to the Risk Management Group and senior management for internal approvals
- undertaking site visits to Australian and International mineral resource projects
- managing and executing due diligence
- working closely with internal executives, external clients and consultants to achieve efficient and effective processing of transactions
You will have:
- tertiary qualifications in Geology
- sound experience working within, or consulting to, the mining industry in a technical capacity
- proven technical and analytical skills, attention to detail, sound judgement in assessing mining related opportunities
- a keen interest to expand your relationships with key decision makers in the resources sector
- strong organisation, communication and negotiation skills
- an eye for trends and future issues
- significant experience in resource and reserve estimation using geostatistical techniques
- open-cut mine operational experience with further experience in underground and for a range of commodities an advantage.

Exposure to, and further studies in, commercial and finance areas would be advantageous
