The Senior Revenue Analyst II will work under the direction of their immediate manager to review sales contracts and record related revenue and expenses, ensuring compliance with revenue and cost recognition policies and procedures. The Analyst will also provide input into the budgeting and forecasting process.
- Ensure that all contracts are reviewed for revenue recognition compliance in accordance with US GAAP (Topic 605, esp. ASC 985-605 (formerly SOP 97-2), ASC 605-35 (formerly SOP 81-1), ASU 2009-13 (formerly EITF 08-1) and SAB Topic 13) and, if applicable, IFRS (IAS 11 and IAS 18), in accordance with the Company's 'Guidelines to Contracts Administration and Management'
- Maintain Estimated Selling Price (ESP) and Vendor-Specific Objective Evidence (VSOE) analyses for assigned product lines
- Assist in updating the MA Revenue Accounting Policy and global MA Revenue Accounting Guidebook, as well as preparing process and procedure documentation
- Review prices on significant deals prior to signing to ensure compliance with ESP/VOSE results
- Set up contracts in the PeopleSoft 'Contracts Module' for proper revenue/cost recognition under the Company's revenue/expense accounting policy
- Prepare revenue accounting memos and/or checklists to document accounting positions for unusual and/or significant deals; present revenue accounting treatments for 'key deals' in monthly revenue review meetings/presentations to senior management
- Liaise with the Professional Services Group (PSG) to develop and maintain a process to monitor the progress towards completion for service arrangements, including those linked with software deals
- Ensure service projects are interfaced from ChangePoint to PeopleSoft Contracts Module completely and accurately
- Liaise with Financial Planning and Analysis (FPA) in order to advise on the forecasted revenue recognition for complex deals, and to update them on forecasted revenue
- Assist Sales and Legal teams with contract negotiation by participating in discussions, reviewing draft contracts, and providing revenue recognition recommendations based on the Moody's Analytics Revenue Recognition Policy
- Use analytical skills and findings to make recommendations on process improvements, IT, and opportunities to grow bottom line revenue
- Interact with internal and external auditors, providing audit schedules requested, and communicate audit findings to the broader revenue accounting team in a timely manner to ensure consistency and awareness
- Maintain and update internal Sarbanes-Oxley documentation for revenue recognition and support internal and external audits of related controls
- Generate monthly journal entries to record revenue using PeopleSoft Contracts module or GL Custom Page
- Comment on the monthly Revenue Analytics and deferred revenue recon files for assigned business units/geographies
- Responsible for the completeness and accuracy of US GAAP and (if applicable) IFRS revenue and deferred revenue accounts
- Create detailed revenue reporting as needed for management purposes
The EMEA Finance Controllership Group consists of around 30 employees across Europe with a central hub in London. It is responsible for group US financial reporting, local statutory reporting and financial controls for each of the EMEA offices
