Senior Risk Analyst (m/f)
Basic Purpose:
The successful candidate will be a member of the global Enterprise Risk Management department, whereby the role is located within the Credit Market Risk group Munich. Having a direct reporting line to the Head of credit Market Risk, he/she will closely interact with various internal departments, in particular finance, operations groups, global services business units and sales teams. Besides this, he/she will collaborate with colleagues in foreign branches as well as control groups within the global (risk management) organization especially in the context of key projects and initiatives. He/she will be responsible for performing Risk Management activities such as reporting oversight, limit process development , limit reviews, evaluation of different risk types, guidance development of new employees, regulatory environment analysis (e. g. Basel III, MaRisk).
Amongst others the role includes expert business support, responsibility for performing day-to-day management and monitoring of credit market risks, rating of counterparties as well as setting, reviewing and controlling of client limits in alignment with enterprise wide requirements. In this context the successful candidate is required to ensure adherence of the activities with the relevant internal policies and procedures whilst fulfilling relevant regulatory requirements and guidelines. Being a key member of the credit market risk department the individual is expected to support the Head of Credit Market Risk and the Head of GmbH Risk Management in strategic planning and organizational tasks related to the department to successfully lead and implement projects besides contributing to continuously improve existing processes and workflows within his/her area of responsibility and beyond.
The role demands a very interactive collaboration with business and risk units to monitor and assure daily business tasks. The participation in relevant meetings/committees is as certain as tre responsibilities within projects.
Major responsibilities:
The broad layout of the role includes the following duties:
- Ensure internal and external representation of the Global Services Risk team
- Serve as key point of contact for business units regarding process improvements and projects
- Bear responsibility of employee development and knowledge transfer to more junior staff
- Proactively develops and supports projects and new processes driven by changes to and/or new regulations, new products and business models
- Responsibility for Global Services credit/market-risk related analyses, measurement, assessment and reporting
- Develop and update the Global Services risk strategy for the GmbH and implement key changes and processes
- Ensure compliance to MaRisk in particular in terms of processes, decisions and acknowledgement by employees
- Participation in and assurance of high quality standards for internal reports to the local management board
- Interact and closely cooperate with other departments (e. g. Compliance, Legal) within SSB GmbH and the broader State Street organization
- Continous contribution to the understanding of strategy and legal structure risk for German and international asset management clients
- Provide advice concerning risk data and systems-related issues within area of responsibility
- Work proactively and in independent manner to drive forward assigned tasks
- Provide thought leadership on the way to solve complex tasks and analyses
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Five years of relevant work experience with a strong focus on capital markets, profound analytical skills and experience in risk analysis
- Degree in (business) economics or mathematic sciences
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel and Access
Skills and Knowledge:
- Keen interest in the financial industry and regulatory environment (Basel Ii-III, KWG, InvG)
- Quantitative and analytical skills and strong analytical affinity
- Good understanding of databases and IT structures
- Commitment to quality, sense for detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to take ownership (hands-on-mentality) to positively influence and build consensus
- Ability to work under pressure in a challenging, fast changing, international environment
- Ability to communicate effectively, positively influence and build consensus in both German and English, further languages advantageous
