Senior Risk Analyst recruitment

Key responsibilities

The main responsibilities of this role are to co-ordinate and maintain the effectiveness of risk management processes across core MG Central Functions, namely HR, Finance, Legal Compliance and Risk Audit, and provide consolidated risk analysis and risk management information to the Executive Directors responsible for these functions. This involves:

- Building constructive and supportive working relationships with management across the business
- Maintaining reports of risk/control issues and actions and challenging the business on the information captured
- Embedding of the MG Group Risk Framework, Risk policies and standards within the Central Functions
- Liaising with other areas within MG to assist in developing a co-ordinated approach to both the application of the operational risk discipline and resolution of operational risk issues
- Undertaking reviews of operational incidents, producing reports with agreed management actions to the required standard
- Developing and maintaining risk MI for the Central Functions
- Supporting the development, implementation and maintenance of information systems to support the MG Risk Framework
- Working flexibly with other members of Central Risk Assessment to provide risk oversight of MG, as directed by the Head of Central Risk

The role gives an opportunity to apply risk analytical skills in diverse fields at the centre of a business that deals in complex and fast moving markets. Practical advice on process disciplines has tangible benefit to the managers in the central functions, most of whom are technical specialists.

What we are looking for

Essential:
- Pragmatic in both analytical thinking and problem solving
- A team player, good at working with others with the ability to be self-sufficient
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong planning and organising skills
- Strong influencing skills and the ability to build effective relationships

Desirable:
- Strong experience in operational risk or a related discipline
- Relevant professional qualification (e.g. ACA, CIMA, ACCA, IIA)
- Experience of working in the investment management industry
- Appreciation of client, shareholder and regulator perspectives on risk
